Serving on a board is a chance to influence policy and represent the values of your profession. Ready to take part?
Governor Kevin Stitt signed into law House Bill 3000, which extends the State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering (Board) and eliminates the Advisory Board on Massage Therapy. As part of an effort to streamline state government, the law adds one licensed massage therapist to the Board to ensure the profession still has a voice in regulatory decisions.
This change makes it more important than ever that a qualified, experienced massage therapist fills this new position. The massage therapist will fill only one seat on a board of 11 members.
The appointed individual will play a critical role in shaping rules, advising the Board on policy decisions, and ensuring rules reflect the realities of massage therapy practice in Oklahoma. Strong representation protects professional standards and supports the profession.
