A Detailed Approach to Low-Back Pain with Allison Denney: Join Allison Denney of Rebel Massage for a dynamic webinar that takes an in-depth look at the muscles, structures, and common dysfunctions of the lumbar region while putting the “fun” in functional anatomy. Detailed muscles painted on a client show the relationship between where the muscles are in the low back, what they do, and how they most often create a pain response. Explore examples of how each of the three common low-back issues—overuse injuries, muscles strains, and trigger points—occurs and learn practical treatment approaches you can use with your clients today.

Ethics: Preventing Sexual Misconduct in Massage Therapy with Ben Benjamin: This ethics course addresses the critical topic of sexual misconduct in massage therapy. Viewers will learn the definition and history of sexual abuse, how to maintain sexual boundaries in draping and quality of touch, and the warning signs of predator therapists. Stretching the Neck with Joe Muscolino: Join Dr. Joe Muscolino for a comprehensive course on stretching the neck. Learn to effectively stretch the six major functional muscle groups in the neck: the flexors and extensors in the sagittal plane, the right lateral flexors and left lateral flexors in the frontal plane, and the right rotators and left rotators in the transverse plane. An emphasis is placed on optimal body mechanics and client positioning while performing multiple techniques including static stretching, dynamic stretching, pin and stretch, contract-relax, and agonist-contract.

Gainful Employment Rules Compliance Updates

Louisiana Bill Proposes Massage Program Hour Increase

Effective October 1, 2024, Louisiana massage students will no longer be eligible for federal financial aid because massage programs are limited by Louisiana law. But there is a solution: Senate Bill 353 will increase the required education hours for massage licensure from 500 to 625. ABMP fully supports this bill, and we explain why you should too.
