New Massage Therapy Management Requirements in Connecticut

House Bill No. 6666 (HB 6666) passed this legislative session and requires every business that employs a massage therapist to be under the management of a licensed massage therapist, hairdresser, cosmetician, esthetician, eyelash technician, or nail technician. This does not impact sole practitioners. HB 6666 is now in effect.

Connecticut law already required licensed hairdressers, cosmeticians, estheticians, eyelash technicians, and nail technicians to be under the management of licensed professionals and HB 6666 simply adds massage therapists to the list. These professionals cannot be managed by an unlicensed member of the public and must be supervised by one of the licensed professionals mentioned above.
