Warning: Beware of TDLR Inspector Fraud

ABMP was informed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) that individuals may be posing as TDLR inspectors. We at ABMP want to pass along some important security information to help keep you and your establishment safe.

Most importantly, a TDLR inspector will never, under any circumstance, request or accept money while calling, visiting, or conducting an inspection. Below is more of what you should expect from a real TDLR inspector.

Real TDLR inspectors will do the following:

  • Introduce themselves
  • Show their Texas state employee ID card
  • Provide their contact information, upon request
  • Provide their TDLR business card, upon request

Real TDLR inspectors cannot, and will not, do the following:

  • Accept payment for license fees
  • Request money for violations
  • Charge for inspections

It is recommended you call TDLR and law enforcement immediately if someone approaches or calls you posing as a TDLR employee. Note: Impersonating a public servant is a third-degree felony in Texas.
