Learners’ Five Favorite ABMP CE Courses of 2021

This was another exciting year for continuing education at ABMP!

ABMP members enhanced their skills and knowledge by taking advantage of the outstanding online education and CE that comes free with membership: the library of courses in the ABMP Education Center, the ABMP CE Socials events, and the ABMP CE Summit online conference. With more than 700 hours of CE to choose from, it’s easy for all practitioners—members and nonmembers—to find a video-based course to match their interests (and state requirements).

As we look ahead to 2022, these five courses were learners’ favorites in 2021:

A Global Approach to the Knee, Allison Denney

How do we work with a joint that is weight bearing, bony, ligamentous, and problematic? With a global approach! Join Allison Denney as she connects connective tissue and manages muscle tissue in and around the knee. Take a closer look at what moves this knobby joint toward dysfunction and gain some perspectives and techniques that bring balance to an otherwise off-kilter structure. This course was featured during the 2021 ABMP CE Summit.

Asian Reflexology: Traditional Chinese, Thai, and Japanese Shiatsu Approaches for the Feet, Heath & Nicole Reed

Learn ancient healing techniques from around the world to work the reflex pressure points of the feet and meridians of the lower legs to balance major energy channels and impact the whole body. Grow your technique toolbox with multiple foot reflexology routines—to use as stand-alone protocols or integrate into any full-body session—that blend the modern Western reflexology chart with reflexive touch therapies inspired by traditional Chinese medicine, Thai massage, and Japanese shiatsu. This course was featured during the 2021 ABMP CE Summit.

Blood Clots: Causes, Concerns, and Considerations, Ruth Werner

This important conversation covers the pathophysiology of thrombosis, with an emphasis on practical applications in clinical decision-making. Blood clots affect hundreds of thousands of patients each year. Can you afford to miss this class? Join Ruth Werner for this “blood curdling” discussion. This course was featured during the August 2021 ABMP CE Socials event.

Cupping with Movement for Upper-Body Conditions, Paul Kohlmeier

Discover cupping therapy applied like you may not have seen it before! Learn the fundamental concepts, general techniques, and expected results of cupping with movement for upper-body conditions. Learn massage cupping techniques with active range of motion, passive range of motion, and complex movement to address common client conditions. This course was featured during the 2021 ABMP CE Summit.

Easing Pregnancy Pain: Three Ways to Help the Most Common Prenatal Complaints, Carole Osborne, Michele Kolakowski, David Lobenstine

Join us to learn three evidence-based, practical techniques to alleviate some of pregnancy’s most common complaints. Every pregnancy is unique, but most pregnant clients experience stress, torso discomfort, and/or pelvic pain. In this course, you’ll gain an understanding of these issues, why they are nearly ubiquitous, and what you can do to alleviate them as three renowned instructors share some of their favorite approaches for this population. Whether you are new to prenatal massage or a prenatal pro looking for new tools, this course will help you deepen your practice. This course was featured during the 2021 ABMP CE Summit.
