WellBiz Brands Inc. Appoints New Executive Chairman

WellBiz Brands, Inc.—the manager of health and wellness brands Elements Massage, Fitness Together, and FIT36—has announced the appointment of Joseph Luongo as executive chairman, effective immediately. 

Mr. Luongo has 25 years of experience in the franchise industry, most recently serving as a fitness and wellness industry consultant. Previously, Joe was Chief Operating Officer for Massage Envy. Luongo has also held leadership roles with Pizza Hut, Peter Piper Pizza, FedEx Kinko’s, and Starbucks. Luongo was a C-130 Navigator and Captain in the United States Air Force. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Iona College in New York, has a master’s degree in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas and has completed Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program.

Minnesota Delays Action on Massage and Asian Bodywork Therapy Licensure

The Minnesota legislature will not adopt massage and Asian bodywork therapy licensure in 2023. ABMP members are an essential part of ensuring that the Minnesota legislature prioritizes licensure next year. Texas Proposes New Massage Therapy, Barber, Cosmetology Rules

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation proposed rules that affect massage therapy. The rules are necessary to align the dishonored payment processing fee with statutory requirements, add additional rules regarding complaints, and revise the processes and procedures for contested cases. Submit comments in support, or opposition to, the proposed rules before April 3, 2023.
