Mandatory Vaccination Requirement for Puerto Rico Health-Care Workers, Cosmetologists, Barbers, and Spas

Governor Pierluisi recently issued two executive orders that mandate vaccinations in Puerto Rico. Executive Order 62 was issued August 5, 2021, and requires everyone who works in a medical facility to obtain their second vaccination, if required, by September 30, 2021.

Executive Order 64 was issued August 19, 2021, and mandates that everyone who works in a variety of businesses, including beauty salons, barber shops, esthetics salons, spas, and gyms, must be vaccinated with both doses, if needed, by October 15, 2021.

Both executive orders indicate that every employee who works in the facility, including practitioners, staff, business owners, and administrators, must comply with the vaccination requirement. Proof of vaccination must be shown to employers.
