OH Bill Encourages Posting of Human Trafficking Notices

Ohio House Bill 262, which has passed both houses of the legislature and is awaiting signature by Governor John Kasich, encourages, but does not require, any establishment operating as a massage parlor, massage spa, alternative health clinic, or similar entity by persons who do not hold a valid certificate from the state medical board to practice massage therapy to publicly post on its premises a notice containing certain information regarding human trafficking, including the contact information for the human trafficking hotline.  Thus, the law will not require that any notice be posted, but rather will simply “encourage” the posting of the notice.  Further, the law only applies to establishments which are not run by licensed massage therapists. The division of criminal justice services will create a poster providing the information and make the poster available for print on its public website.
