Kentucky Considers Requiring Background Checks for Applicants and Licensees Who have Been Convicted or Disciplined

Two new regulations are being considered in Kentucky which would impose a new background check requirement for massage therapy licensees and license applicants.

KY 21521 would require that all license applicants pass a criminal background check in order to obtain a massage license.  Almost every other licensed state has the same type of requirement for massage license applicants. KY 21522 would require that licensees who have been convicted of a crime or disciplined by the board of another jurisdiction during the immediately preceding  licensure period submit to a background check when they renew their license.

Again, almost every state now has some type of background check requirement for massage licensees.
