Massage therapy in Washington, DC, needs strong voices, and yours could be one of them! The Washington, DC, Board of Massage Therapy (Board) has an exciting opportunity to strengthen the massage profession and make decisions that directly impact practice standards in the District of Columbia.
The Board has two vacancies for licensed massage therapists. Without a complete board, meetings risk falling short of quorum, meaning important business can’t move forward. Filling these seats is key, and it’s a chance for you to step into a leadership role and make a lasting difference in massage regulation.
Not a current DC resident? That’s OK! If you’re licensed and have practiced for at least three years in DC, you’re eligible. Many practitioners from nearby states—Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia—can still apply. What matters most is having a vested interest in the massage profession and a passion for public service.
Why Serving on the Board Matters
Board members do more than attend meetings—they guide the future of massage therapy. By serving on the Board, you will:
- Influence policies that directly affect how you practice
- Strengthen professional and educational standards
- Ensure diverse voices are represented at the regulatory level
- Gain leadership experience and recognition within the massage community
If you’re ready to step forward, head straight to the Mayor’s Office of Talent and Appointments page to apply.
This is your opportunity to lend your perspective and insight to shape the future of massage therapy in Washington, DC!
