Massage & Bodywork Magazine January/February 2022 Issue Released

The January/February 2022 issue of Massage & Bodywork magazine is out now in print for ABMP members and available online at www.massageandbodyworkdigital.com.

In this issue we focus on your clients by exploring the long-term effects of COVID, working with autistic clients, and 3 successful keys to re-booking.

This issue includes the following feature articles:

  • "Unpacking the Long Haul" by Ruth Werner—The phenomenon known as long COVID affects an unknown portion of the population for an unknown amount of time, but it is common enough and serious enough to draw the attention of many experts who specialize in chronic conditions. The self-identified label for these patients is "long haulers." This article addresses a brief history of COVID-19, and concludes with some suggestions about massage therapy as a safe and effective intervention.
  • "Leave Diagnosing to the Doctor" by David M. Lobenstine—Clients are asking us to tell them what's happening with their bodies. They are asking us to translate what our hands feel into words that make sense to them. In that request—and in our endless desire to help as much as possible—begins our trip down one of the slipperiest of the many slippery slopes of our profession.
  • "Autistic Clients" by Sasha Chaitow, PhD—Since integrative health care and massage specifically have shown promising evidence of reducing autistic anxiety, improving sensory integration difficulties, and assisting with developing coping mechanisms and increased quality of life, it's important that this community is able to provide the care that autistic people need.
  • "3 Keys to Successfully Rebook Clients" by Irene Diamond—To deliver repeat bookings, a therapist must (1) believe 100 percent in the value they can deliver through their services, (2) evaluate clients to know their clinical goals and how to accomplish them, and (3) design effective therapy plans or programs.

Massage & Bodywork magazine is available to the profession at www.massageandbodyworkdigital.com, and you can also become an ABMP member and have every issue shipped to your front door.
