ABMP CE Socials May 2021: “Centering Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity in Our Practices” with Shana Chivon

Our next event in the ABMP CE Socials series is now open for registration at abmp.com/ce-socials. ABMP CE Socials allow you to connect and engage with your massage community, experts in the field, and ABMP as you learn and earn CE!

On Thursday, May 27, massage therapists and bodyworkers can join us live in our virtual classroom for the brand-new course “Centering Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity in Our Practices” with Shana Chivon. The interactive experience is free for ABMP members and $15 for nonmembers, and includes live event access, your CE certificate, and ongoing access to the course in the ABMP Education Center.

Course description:

Centering communities of color and socially marginalized groups in our work creates diverse and inclusive spaces for radical wellness. Join Shana Chivon as she shares how to incorporate and prioritize diversity, inclusion, and equity in your practice to ensure that all communities are able to benefit from your work. Learn how to address inequalities that impact representation and relationships in the wellness industry. 

About the Presenter:

Shana Chivon is a passionate change agent who carries a mandate for liberation, a heart for progress, and a desire to disrupt the status quo. She is a veteran of the United States Air Force where she worked as a maintainer on the KC-135 Tanker at McConnell AFB in Wichita, Kansas. Currently, Shana works as an IT leader for a Wichita-based private company. In addition to her day job, she runs a successful consulting practice where she provides diversity, inclusion, and equity training. She works to provide education, resources, and training centered around defying the myth of black inferiority and dismantling oppressive power systems. For more information, visit shanachivon.com.

ABMP CE Socials bring attendees together to watch the course on our live event platform with the opportunity to interact and ask questions to the presenter, and after the course we transition to a live, interactive Q&A session with the presenter. At the conclusion of the event, the course will be available in the ABMP Education Center.
