Celebrating the Life of Champ Allen

The massage profession has lost a treasured friend. Champ Allen, husband of author, educator, and Massage & Bodywork columnist Laura Allen, passed away Sunday, May 14. He was 64 years of age.

The two were ambassadors for the profession at various massage conferences across the country where Laura taught continuing education classes and more recently worked for Soothing Touch as massage division director.

Champ never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand. He loved motorcycles and massage therapy, and worked with Laura in their clinic Thera-ssage until she joined Soothing Touch.

Laura describes her husband as “the light of my life, the love of my life, the best person I ever met in my life … I am grateful for every single second I had with him. My relationship with him was the biggest accomplishment I have ever had.”

Visitation for Champ is at Crowe’s Mortuary in their hometown of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, Wednesday, May 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. His funeral will be held at Concord Baptist Church, 720 Old US 74 Highway, Bostic, North Carolina, Thursday, May 18, at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Laura requests donations in Champ’s memory to the Massage Therapy Foundation at https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/1428681.
