Aggressive Media Company Appears to Target Bodyworkers

ABMP has learned of an internet-based media company that contacts business owners by phone to offer them a short interview that will run on an internet radio program, but it’s actually a sales strategy. After the interview is complete, the representatives purportedly become very aggressive in attempt to elicit payment for additional airtime. MTs and other bodyworkers who have dealt with the company say that once it becomes apparent that the interviewee is not interested in purchasing airtime, the representatives become extremely rude, and begin calling the customer’s phone repeatedly.

If you are contacted by a media company offering free airtime and increased exposure for your business in exchange for a brief interview, always ensure you do your due diligence. Is the invitation about you being part of news story or is it a sales call? Research the company and the interviewer, read online reviews, and search their social media channels for any negative feedback to avoid becoming a target.
