Vaccination Requirement for Health-Care Providers in Oregon—UPDATE

On August 4, 2021, Governor Brown announced that due to COVID-19’s Delta variant, vaccines will be required for all health-care providers working in health-care settings, including massage therapists, by September 30, 2021.

The Oregon Board of Massage Therapy indicates that this may not apply to those that work in spas or private practices:

“The mandated vaccine order currently applies to all LMTs who perform their practice in a healthcare facility as defined in the order. The vast majority of massage facilities, spas, and private practices are not likely to fall under the requirement. That said, this is completely dependent upon the type of practice an LMT conducts, either full or part-time. If any LMT performs massage in a facility that falls under the definition of a healthcare facility then the rule applies to them, at that time.”

Anyone who works in a health-care setting as defined in the announcement who does not comply with this rule by September 30, 2021, may be fined up to $500 per day. This temporary rule is in effect from August 4, 2021, through January 31, 2022.
