Massage Establishments Must Register Their Business in Mississippi

The Mississippi legislature passed Senate Bill 2751 (SB 2751) this session, requiring the Mississippi State Board of Massage Therapy (Board) to develop guidelines for massage establishment registration. SB 2751 also requires the Board to maintain a current business registry of massage establishment locations, owner contact information, local business permit information, and the names of licensees who perform massage services at the establishment.

As defined by §73-67-7(h), a “massage establishment” means a place of business where massage is conducted. If you own your massage therapy business, including one where you are the sole practitioner, then you are required to register with the Board. View the Business Registration Form here.

The initial registration fee is $50 and it must be paid to the Board no later than January 1, 2022. Renewals must be received by the Board between March 1 and April 1 each year beginning in 2023. The initial January 1, 2022, registration will serve as the 2022 registration.
