Idaho Switches to 2-Year License Renewal

05/05/2025

Beginning May 19, 2025, the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) will start transitioning your massage therapy license from a one-year renewal to a two-year renewal. DOPL states the intent is to give massage therapists more time to focus on what matters—their clients and their profession instead of frequent renewal dates.

The Transition

  • If you were born in an odd-numbered year: Starting May 19, 2025, your license will be valid for two years.

  • If you were born in an even-numbered year: Your 2025 license renewal will be valid for one year, and you’ll be moved to a two-year renewal cycle in 2026.

  • New applicants: Starting May 19, 2025, all new applicants will purchase a two-year license.

Once you move to a two-year renewal cycle, your license fee will double to reflect the extended renewal period. This means you will pay for two years upfront, but you will only need to renew every other year.
