On April 15, 2022, the Michigan Register (p. 79) announced a proposed amendment to the Massage Therapy General Rules that addresses relicensure.
The proposed rule affects continuing education requirements for those who let their Michigan massage therapy license lapse. Under the proposed rule, practitioners who wish to be relicensed would have to submit proof of 18 hours of continuing education before proceeding with their application for relicensure—a decrease from the previously required 48 hours.
If you would like to submit written comments to the Bureau of Professional Licensing in support of, or in opposition to, the proposed rule, send your comments to BPL-BoardSupport@michigan.gov before April 25, 2022. You can use ABMP’s advocacy template as a guide to help write your commentary. There will also be a public hearing on April 25, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. EST at the address below.
