South Dakota House Bill 1016—Hearing January 20 at 10:00 a.m. (CDT)

Governor Noem introduced House Bill 1016, which would consolidate the boards of massage therapy, cosmetology, and barbering into a new nine-person board from under the Department of Health. There is a hearing in the Commerce and Energy Committee on January 20, 2021, at 10:00 a.m (CDT). There will be a short opportunity for public comment.


Information for Individuals with Criminal Convictions

The Pennsylvania State Board of Massage Therapy (Board) released a Schedule of Criminal Convictions. The list outlines criminal convictions that may be grounds to refuse to issue, suspend, or revoke a massage therapy license, certificate, registration, or permit. Major convictions in the schedule include abuse, sexual offenses, drug act crimes, and crimes of violence.
 






California Update – New Regional Closures – Personal Services including massage, hair, esthetics, and nails to close if ICU bed capacity reaches 15% or less

Governor Newsom modified the state’s Stay at Home orders and split the state up into five regions. Regions that have 15% or less intensive care unit (ICU) bed capacity will be shut down from all but essential services for three weeks.
