Clear Your Field

“Learn to accept it. Learn to let it happen. Learn to let it go.”

—Phra KK, Thai Buddhist monk

If you’ve been feeling fatigued, overwhelmed, off-kilter, or experiencing a mystery pain out of nowhere, it might not even be yours. When we care and are sensitive to others, we may become ensnared in energies and carry burdens that aren’t our own. Cord-cutting is a clearing ritual we practice daily to reclaim our personal energy, restore our vitality, and reinforce healthy, harmonious boundaries. It’s an opportunity to release connections to others that no longer serve us and is especially helpful for anyone who regularly connects with lots of people.

Cord-cutting is a simple way to release what doesn’t belong to us and an opportunity to unhook from those experiences and connections that may weigh us down. It’s a way to consciously complete a session or even a whole day of services—like washing your hands, you can use cord-cutting as an energetic shower to cleanse and clear away any unnecessary connections or attachments.

The following cord-cutting practice is inspired by our studies with Pranic Healing, reiki, shamanism, and other indigenous healing traditions.

1. Identify the person or situation you want to release and visualize the energetic cords that connect you (maybe attaching to your navel, solar plexus, heart, or elsewhere).

2. Visualize your cutting tool, maybe imagining them as scissors, swords of light, or even a laser beam extending from your hands.

3. Raise your hands in front of your body and slash those connecting cords in an X-like fashion, focusing on the area in front of your belly and solar plexus.

4. Visualize the ends of the cut cords sealing with light and send them back to their source. Often when we cut cords, we affirm by saying, “I release any energy that does not belong to me. Send back to its source. Now!”

5. Gather the gifts of those connections to you by scooping your hands one at a time back to your heart, trusting that the energy you need is here and available to you.
