10/29/03: Assembly Bill 6973 was introduced on March 17, 2003.

The purose of the bill is to provide consumers with access to alternative health care information and treatments and access to complementary and alternative health care practitioners of their choice.

The secific provisions are that alternative health care services may be performed by practitioners without fear of being found in technical violation of Title VIII of the Education Law. It would also require that alternative healthcare providers shall disclose that he or she is not licensed by the state as a healing arts practitioner in any advertisements. In addition, this legislation would require that a written statement be provided to a client stating that the practitioner is not a licensed physician and that the services to be provided are alternative or complementary to healing arts services that are licensed by the state. The written statement would also require an explanation of the services to be provided, the theory of treatment upon which the services are based and the provider`s educational, training, experience and other qualifications regarding the services to be provided. A written acknowledgement from the client stating that he or she has been provided with such information would also be required.

5/31/02: NYNHP must facilitate at least a dozen calls and e-mails supporting S4857 and A8704 going into EACH key legislator's office EVERY week for the foreseeable future. We have our bills and we have Hannon's support, and we need you to keep the flame "alive". KEEP POSITIVE FEEDBACK GOING INTO LEGISLATOR'S OFFICES ABOUT YOUR SUPPORT

Take Five for Freedom: In order to make this sustained activity easy for busy people, NYNHP asks for your participation will send simple instructions "as needed" on a task that will take about five minutes. Your participation is KEY for NYNHP to succeed in securing your right to practice and consumers' right to choose access to Alternative practices. We need everybody's voice including those who live out of state and travel to NY to use natural health care services. Remember: WITHOUT YOUR VOICE THERE IS NO CHOICE

We kindly ask you:
1) Go to the NYNHP website www.nynaturalhealthroject.org , and register your support for freedom. This will take less than one minute.
2) Forward this website address to at least 5 friends and family who are NOT yet involved in the freedom movement and ask for their support for the future of healthcare choice and the natural healing arts in NY. When you forward the address, preface the forward with a short note that tells the receivers how and why their support for NY freedom legislation is important to you and how much you need their help!

The Reason:
Some key Albany legislators are telling us that they have not heard anything but "deafening roar of silence" for our legislative bills. If you want it to be made possible for you to have the alternative health care practices and practitioners of your choice, you have to tell them, ask your family and friends to do the same, and we have to repeat, and repeat and follow through. Without your action NOW, our efforts and hard work will be in vain.

The Solution:
NYNHP must facilitate at least a dozen calls and e-mails supporting S4857 and A8704 going into EACH key legislator's office EVERY week for the foreseeable future.

Thank you for working with us to keep the beacon of natural health lit in Albany.

The Steering Committee of NYNHP
Vera Krijn
