5/17/02: Senate Bill 1418, a proposal to introduce a massage therapy licensing law, saw very little activity this session and died in committee on the 12th of February. The session adjourned on April 6, 2002.



2/20/02: Senate Bill 1418 was introduced on February 11, 2002. The bill includes a minimum of 500 hours of education and successful completion of the National Certification Exam for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB) or an examination administered or approved by the board.

Grandfathering includes options for individuals with 100 hours of education and at least one year of experience or successful completion of the NCETMB or an examination administered or approved by the board.

4/19/01: The Idaho Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association has formed a legislative committee to seek licensure of Massage Therapy in the State of Idaho in the 2002 legislative session. The Chapter is interested in forming a coalition to work toward licensure in Idaho and they are seeking the support and assistance of all p rofessionals in an effort to make this a success. Please contact the coalition for more information and/or to be part of the legislative committee. ABMP encourages you to be involved in this process!
