New Jersey COVID-19 Update—Permission to Practice June 22, 2020

Per Executive Order No. 154 issued June 13, 2020, personal care businesses may resume business operations June 22, 2020, including beauty salons, barbershops, cosmetology salons, day spas (excluding saunas, steam rooms, and shared bathing facilities), medical spas, hair braiding shops, massage therapy establishments, and nail salons. 

Connecticut COVID-19 Update—Permission to Practice June 17, 2020

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont announced Phase 2 of Reopen Connecticut, allowing businesses offering personal services to resume operations June 17, 2020, including day spas, estheticians, waxing, massage therapy, nail technicians, and eyelash technicians.

New York COVID-19 Update

The reopening of businesses in New York State is happening on a regional basis, and our members' businesses fall into different phases of reopening. Additional information and guidelines about each phase are below, but here is a brief overview.

Michigan COVID-19 Update—Permission to Practice

On June 5, 2020, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Executive Order (EO) 2020-114, allowing massage therapists, estheticians, hair salons, barbershops, and nail professionals to resume business operations.

Maryland COVID-19 Update—Permission to Practice June 5, 2020

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced that personal service establishments, including beauty salons, barbershops, massage therapy establishments, and establishments that provide esthetic services or nail technician services, may resume business operations as of 5:00 p.m. ET on June 5, 2020, per Executive Order 20-06-03-01.

Louisiana COVID-19 State Update—Permission to Practice June 5, 2020

Governor John Bel Edwards announced Louisiana's Roadmap to Resilience will move to Phase 2, allowing barber and beauty shops, nail salons, massage therapy establishments, spas, and esthetician services to resume business operations June 5, 2020, except for Orleans Parish, which remains in Phase 1.
