In this presentation, Dr. Glenn Hymel speaks about the Massage Therapy Foundation’s new online scientific research journal: the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (IJTMB). The anticipated outcomes of this session for participants include a basic familiarity with the nature and mission of the IJTMB, knowledge of how to access and use the publication, and a motivation to become engaged with the journal as a regular reader and possibly as a contributing author.

Dr. Glenn Hymel, EdD, LMT, is a professor and past chairman of the Department of Psychology at Loyola University New Orleans. His areas of specialization include educational psychology, research design and statistics, personal adjustment/stress management, school counseling, positive psychology, and philosophical psychology. He has worked extensively in faculty development and student enhancement efforts at the elementary, secondary, tertiary, and professional school levels, with a particular focus on mastery learning, competency-based education, instructional design, learning strategies, and test-preparation skills. Hymel is also a licensed massage therapist with a particular practice and research focus on fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, geriatric, and chronic pain populations. His typical teaching assignments include Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, Statistics, the Psychology of Personal Adjustment, and Models of Human Behavior. Hymel is a Massage Therapy Foundation Trustee and serves as senior consulting editor of The International Journal of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Learn more at
