Video Course: Cornerstones 1: The Noble Heart of Teaching

Anne Williams

The archetype of the hero with a noble heart is more than 5,000 years old and still understood with icons and characters today. Nowhere is a noble heart more prevalent than in teachers who are called to the classroom to make a difference in the lives of students. However, teachers are human, and their idealist hearts are vulnerable to disappointment. Over time, the noble heart can become armored against pain.

In this keynote presentation and Course 1 for Cornerstones: The ABMP Instructor Development Program, we go on a quest to disarm the noble heart of teaching and teach beyond the context of our challenges. Together, we’ll break the spell of chaos on our campus, set a positive and productive tone, shift the context to improve learning, and embrace the characteristics of exceptional teaching. If we are brave, we’ll reinspire our noble heart and bring it more fully to the classroom.
