Build Your Website Step By Step

Step 1: Pick a Website Address & Fill Out Your Profile

Welcome to the first step of our ABMP Member Website Walkthrough, where we resolve with you to knock out this business essential! We’re excited to have you join us as we take you through the process of building a beautiful, professional—and free!—website. Stick with us and, in no time, you’ll have a first-rate website in place.

  • Log in to the ABMP.com Members section using your member ID number and your password (if you need a reminder, click “Forgot password?” and it will be emailed to you).
  • Click the “Create/edit website” link in the right sidebar. If you haven’t yet set up a website address (also called a URL), you’ll be prompted.

This is the address your clients will type in when they go to your website, so you want to make it descriptive and easy to remember, but also relatively short. You choose your name and then select the domain—either www.yourname.massagetherapy.com or www.yourname.abmp.com. You may want to use your personal name, for example, www.janedoe.massagetherapy.com or www.janedoe.abmp.com. Or consider a version of your business name, www.springfield.massagetherapy.com or www.springfieldmassage.abmp.com.
The key points to remember when picking your website address:

  • Relate it to your business name or your own name, so that it’s sensible, memorable, and easy for people to remember.
  • Make it short, so your clients don’t have to type too much to get there.
  • Don’t worry too much about getting it perfect right now, as you can always change it later.

After you’ve selected your website address, you’ll enter the ABMP Website Builder.

  • Click the “Set Profile” button on the left. This information is going to set up your template information in the header and footer.

Note! Don’t worry about the Specials/Call-out Box, Social Media Code, and Google Analytics Code fields right now. These are advanced settings, and we’ll get to them later.

And remember to ALWAYS hit the save button when you make a change! It’s a good idea to save every so often as you’re working on the website—just do it every 20 minutes or so to make sure you don’t lose any work.

Congratulations! You’ve completed the most difficult step—getting started. Make sure you Like us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/abmppage and follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/abmpmassage to keep updated on all the latest happenings in our profession.
