Delaware 11/22/04 11/11/03 10/29/03 12/18/01 11/22/04: House Bill 208 was signed by Governor Ruth Minner on June 29, 2004. Effective July 1, 2004, Certified Massage Therapists will be required to complete 300 hours of education. Previously, only 100 hours of education was required to obtain the certification designation. For a complete copy of this bill, visit the 142nd Legislative Session at http://www.legis.state.de.us/Legislature.nsf/fsLISArchives?openframeset and search on the term massage. 11/11/03: Representative Hudson has sponsored an amendment to House Bill 208 that would increase the educational hours required of a massage technician certification to 500 hours. 10/29/03: House Bill 208 was introduced on June 10, 2003. If passed, the this Act would require massage technician applicants to complete two hundred hours (200) of course study effective January 1, 2004, an increase from the current one hundred (100) hours requirement. The Act would further require applicants seeking licensure or certification by reciprocity to provide proof of CPR certification. The Act would further allow for massage and bodywork therapists or massage technicians to elect inactive status. The Act would further require that a person seeking a massage and bodywork therapist license or a massage technician certification to be at least eighteen (18) years old. The Act would also require new applicants who allowed their license or certification to lapse to comply with the Board's continuing education requirements in the rules and regulations. Certification forms available online at www.state.de.us/omwbe/ "In accordance with the mission of the Office of Minority and Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE) one of the primary responsibilities is the fostering of continued economic development and growth for minority and women owned businesses in the state. In an effort to ensure that minority and women owned businesses take advantage of the services and technical assistance offered by the state, the office works with other state agencies and organizations to develop a favorable climate for minority entrepreneurship. Sponored activities range from training workshops for agencies, regional workshops for minority and women owned businesses and orientation sessions for newly certified minority and women owned business enterprises." Firms wishing to participate in teh state certification process must register through the Office of Minority and Women Business Enterprise. Upon certification, a directory will be developed and provided online for all state and local government offices. A hard copy may be obtained directly through the office.
