As one of the fretters, it is important to realize that just more hours of classroom will not make a better massage therapist. In my opinion, it is not how many hours education provides but the quality of that education that impacts our profession. Too many hours in the educational process are used in ineffective ways. We need to be teaching students how to think and reason through what are called client outcomes. Respect will be gained through our ability to speak with others intelligently and provide massage that serves the clients needs instead of a cluster of methods that may or may not have validity.

It is refreshing to hear someone question the mantra of more hours, more hours. I agree that the profession is what we make it.

I agree with Rob on this one! There is always room for improvement. However, we, ourselves, have to be the ones doing the improving. Our profession and professionalism is entirely what we make it.
