Copyright © Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals. Initial Application/Approval Applicants for program accreditation submit the following information as part of their application: . Written Application . On-site inspection Outcomes . Program Approval - accreditation spans a four-year period, after which time the program must re-apply. . Approval Subject to Modification - schools that may be eligible for accreditation yet have area(s) of moderate concern will have the first year of the four-year period to show evidence of significant progress in these areas. Failure to do so may result in suspension or termination of accreditation. . Denial - schools that do not meet the standards of accreditation would be denied and would need to wait a minimum of two years before re-applying. Maintenance Annual compliance - programs would have to comply with a maintenance element at the end of years one through three. This would include an annual report, fee, submission of student and instructor rosters, as well as a thorough description of any significant changes in the accredited program. Regulation . Suspension - programs that experience any of a number of occurrences may be subject to suspension (failure to comply with annual maintenance, ethical grievance, failure to report changes in program, etc.) . Revocation/Termination - programs that are deemed to no longer meet the standards of accreditation may be subject to review that could result in revocation or termination. A hearing procedure would be employed before any action would be taken. . Grievance - It is the intention of IMSTAC to uphold standards of quality or criteria or programmatic excellence. IMSTAC has no legal control over institutions or programs. The grievance procedure for individuals wishing to voice concern regarding an accredited program is provided once a program has received a favorable determination. Renewal . Programs will submit a new application after four years when accreditation expires. . Re-application would cost two-thirds of current new application fee. |
